As assigned by Vietnam Gorvernment and PetroVietnam for the mission of transportation of crude oil and petroleum products for Dzung Quat Refinery which will officially operate in February 2009, on 20 January 2009 in Vung Tau, PVTrans took delivery 105,177 DWT crude oil tanker named PVT ATHENA which was built in 2000
This is one of the largest vessels in Vietnam with double hull and modern design meeting all international standards. She can carry both crude oil and product oil. PVTrans Pacific Company, one of PVTrans’ subsidiaries is the Owner and will operate the vessel.

In addition, on 14 January 2008, in Singapore PVTrans also took over another product oil tanker named PVT EAGLE of 33,425 DWT. The tanker, which was built in 1998, will also be served for Dzung Quat Refinery.

With these 2 new tankers, PVTrans’ fleet will increase to 9 vessels with total tonnage of 400,000 DWT and become the largest tanker fleet in Viet Nam.
