In conformity with the investment plan and development strategy, on 26th November 2008, PVTrans Pacific – a subsidiary of PVTrans has signed a contract to buy an Aframax crude oil tanker with loading capacity of 105,177 DWT.
This a modern crude oil tanker built on the year of 2000 in Korea shipyard with DNV (Norway) registration. The tanker is intended to be renamed as PVT Athena and will be delivered to PVTrans and put into the operation about 5th to 20th January 2009 to serve for the trial run of Dzung quat Refinery.
With the investment of such PVT Athena tanker, PVTrans not only can well fulfill the mission as an exclusive carrier of crude oil input for Dzung quat Refiner but also strengthen the Corporation’s transportation capacity in overseas and domestic market.
To this day, PVTrans’ fleet includes 9 tankers with carrier capacity of nearly 400.000 ton DWT and become the largest fleet of liquid tankers in Vietnam.
