On 22 February 2009, the launching of Zdung Quat’s first commercial oil flow was held in Quang Ngai province. At the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyá»…n Tấn DÅ©ng emphasized that Zdung Quat Oil Refinery is a key national project of great significance for Quang Ngai province and the central region in terms of politics, economics, social affairs, national defence and security in the course of the national industrialisation and modernisation.
As the designed capacity, Dzung Quat Oil Refinery will produce about 150,000 tonnes of petrol, 240,000 tonnes of diesel, 23,000 tonnes of LPG, 8,000 tonnes of Propylene, 30,000 tonnes of jet fuel and around 25,000 tonnes of FO a month which meet about 30 percent of local demand for oil products. In 2009, the refinery is expected to produce about 2.6 million tons of oil products and as planned it will be increased to full capacity by August 2009 and taken over in October 2009.
As assigned by PetroVietnam for the mission of crude oil and petroleum product transportation for Dzung Quat Refinery, PVTrans will carry out the transportation of 100 percent of crude oil and 70 percent of product oil. This is an important political assignment to secure the national energy security of Vietnam Gorvernment and PetroVietnam as well as the premise for PVTrans’ development in the coming years.
