PVTrans is awarded a transshipment contract for one million tons of coal supplied for Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant, Tra Vinh province (06-03-2017)

On March 3rd, 2017, Franky - Tata International Joint Venture and PVTrans signed a deal to nominate the latter as the logistics service provider of transshipment of one million tons of coal for Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant. The decision was made as a result of a competitive bid for a local service provider to perform the job on a tight schedule of 4 months commencing April, 2017 in a difficult marine conditions of the Mekong river delta. Franky - Tata International Joint Venture acts as the coal provider the Duyen Hai 3 Power Plant.

PVTrans’ logistics plan for the job is based on a proposed transshipment area including Go Gia, Thieng Lieng, Soai Rap or Song Hau River mouth. Coal, imported from Indonesia, will be unloaded from ocean-going mother vessels of approximately 50,000 to 60,000 DWT and discharged onto ocean barges up to 10,000 DWT and transported to Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant, Tra Vinh Province. To complete handling one million tons of coal in a short period of 4 months in the difficult marine conditions is a complex job requiring a thought-out plan, good co-ordination, among others, to produce high rate of discharging coal from the mother vessel, minimizing demurrage and saving freight costs.

The plan for the job falls along the line with this comprehensive plan.

With many years of experience in shipping and logistics, PVTrans has established sufficient facilities of coal logistics, capable of operating in difficult marine conditions namely in insufficient ports or shallow draft in the South and Mekong delta areas.
